HISTORY: Patrick was born and raised in Clifden, Ireland. His parents owned a pub and he spent much of his childhood adjacent to that, starting to help out with it when he was a teen and actually working there for a year after school because he couldn't decide on what to study and his parents needed the help, just having moved into a bigger venue.
He's got a little sister who was and still is making noises about wanting to inherit the pub, so his parents were fine with him going off to Dublin to study engineering. Otherwise, there isn't a lot of family - one grandmother broke contact with hers because of some family drama, and none of the others had much of a family either for one reason or the other. So his family is pretty much his grandparents, his parents, sister, one uncle, his wife and their single child. This is relevant because in his third year in uni he did a year abroad (in London, not for the cultural aspect so much but because of a specialisation in renewable energies a uni over there had). And there, he met Niamh.
They met through keeping to the sidelines of a party and discussing hot and not about everyone on the dancefloor, then realised that they were the only two Gaelic speakers around (even with the same dialect) and bonded further over that, and... well, things kind of went from there, and eventually he got to meet her family and they were.
A lot.
Both in quality and quantity. Niamh had six older siblings, and there were oodles of aunts and uncles and grandparents and cousins and various other people apparently related, really it felt like a large part of the population of the island that she was from was at least some distant kind of family - which for Patrick, who was used to a very truncated family, was plain overwhelming.
And that was before he found about the werewolves. Because you see, some of the people in Niamh's family were werewolves. Weird shit, that. But all in all quite fun people, and Patrick, who could impress with his fiddle skills and quickly became well known for being decent help with electrical problems, got accepted into the family, all family secrets included, fairly quickly. He's just always going to be Niamh's Patrick, but that's just how the naming goes...
The first crack in the idea that all in all, werewolves and their relatives were pretty fine and fun people even if over the top and odd sometimes as well as hierarchical in strange places, came last November. On the 28th November 2008, someone rang at the door of the house that him and Niamh had moved in by that point - the building of his parents' old pub - and when Patrick opened the door, there was a bundle in a box on the doorstep that wiggled a bit, and when he carefully leaned down and checked... that definitely was the tiniest werewolf that he'd ever seen, about the size of a terrier.
He looked around, and, being unable to see anyone, quickly brought the box inside. Him and Niamh decided to inform her brother Liam, who was their primary werewolf contact, but it took days until he responded... And by the time some of them arrived some time later, Niamh and Patrick had grown fond of the little bundle of fur.
And that was when Patrick realised that something was rotten in the state of werewolves. Because they didn't treat the baby like anyone should have treated a baby, more like a dead, stinky fish the cat had unfortunately brought home. For the first time, Patrick got really angry at Liam, and things got nasty for a bit.
In the end, it was agreed that Niamh and Patrick would keep the baby and raise him, and Liam would regularly check in with them to see if they needed support with raising the tiny werewolf.
The couple decided to name the boy Colin, and that they would rotate taking time off work to "care for an ailing relative undergoing medical treatment" to hide that the baby needed a parent at home - they could hardly take parent leave for a baby that didn't officially exist and didn't even look human, and whose presence they had to hide even from Patrick's family.
Currently, Patrick is the one on leave.

PERSONALITY: Patrick is, generally, easy to get along with.
He approaches and strikes up conversations with natural, friendly confidence that is usually well-received, which reassures him that it's a good thing to do. His humour is a bit coarse sometimes but never actually offensive, and he generally has an approach towards other people that is warm and appreciative.
He tends to roll with things and watch in the beginning, always in good faith (though, if necessary, with all due carefulness).
On the flip side, Patrick's biggest fault perhaps is that he can roll with things for too long, only speaking out about what he doesn't like once things have already settled into a routine or a conversation has gone far into the deep end. And if something shapes up to be a recurring problem or
really crosses a line and he decides to speak up instead of stepping away, that can be a sudden outburst of passionate anger that usually takes people by absolute surprise, because he just is always so calm and friendly otherwise.
Being calm, in his case, doesn't mean that he doesn't talk - he is just very used to being the measured, dependable counterpart. This approach has deepened since he met Niamh, who is all the passion, all the time.
This is not to say that he's not passionate about things. He loves his wife and child fiercely and thinks that they are the absolute best, and at the moment they are his biggest driving force - he's got the job he was working towards, he's living in a place he loves, making sure that his wife and especially his son are well and happy is his primary goal right now. He also can get very intense when playing music or talking about things he cares about, and will fully lean into a good time if it's being had, all worries be damned. On the less positive side, as above mentioned,
if you manage to anger him, better hide the crockery and cover the kid's ears.
It's just that, some rare moments aside, that passion doesn't translate into outburst or obvious surface fluctuation. It's more like the tides than a tsunami - powerful but slow changing.
While he's on the calmer end though, he's not broody - not at all. He's friendly, pleasant, generally happy and just here to have a good time. And get some sleep. He hasn't gotten a lot of that, recently.
POWERS/ABILITIES: As kinfolk, Patrick is immune to Delirium (werewolf-induced panic), has a slightly heightened connection to the spiritual world, can have werewolf children, and has fairly strong willpower for a human (his is really pretty strong even for kin). But all in all? No real supernatural abilities, no.
